Whenever a safety analysis team is required, this activity will be carried out at the Client&#8217;s premises and in synergy with selected members of its staff (process engineers and operators). Here below, we briefly report the techniques used for the Hazard identification in a system &amp; the Definition of a Safety integrity level, which are offered by our Company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-big-font-size\"><strong>Services<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-extra-small-font-size wp-block-list\">\n<li><em><strong>What If ?<\/strong>    This technique asks a series of &#8220;What if?&#8221; questions about the system and its design, and is used to give a first assessment of hazards.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em><strong>Interaction analysis.<\/strong>    This technique looks at the interactions between specific aspects of a system. It is widely used in the process industries where the human interaction with the process is relevant, such as in batch-production, where chemicals could be mixed in error.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em><strong>Zonal analysis.<\/strong>    This technique looks at interactions between components of a system but is specifically concerned with their physical positions. It can be used in identifying common cause hazards and the consequences of their interaction.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em><strong>Checklists.<\/strong>    This approach helps to identify hazards by providing a pre-determined series of questions, usually related to &#8220;What&#8221; and &#8220;How&#8221;. They can be used to look at either specific items of a system, or procedures, and may be qualitative or quantitative. The checklists are preliminarily drafted at our headquarters, then they are discussed at the Client&#8217;s premises, in synergy with the permanent staff. This procedure can be carried out at any time and at any level of design abstraction.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em><strong>Fault Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).<\/strong>    This technique aims to identify the ways in which a system can fail and the effects of the failures. An FMEA is normally carried out remotely by an engineer of our team, but it may be done by a complete team: it is one of the best known and most widely used systematic techniques for hazard identification.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em><strong>Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP)<\/strong>.    It is a formal and systematic technique aimed to the identification of hazards. It examines the components and the interconnections between components, to explore whether deviation from a design intent is possible, and if so, what might be their causes and consequences. <strong>HAZOP<\/strong> is particularly powerful for exploring the interconnections between parts of a system.
